I want to cover some of the questions that I get asked a lot. One of the most common is how to create great images or videos for social media. I know that not everyone has an amazing videographer or photographer friend and has to make due with available resources. I also know that having the budget and skill set for some of those resources is harder than hiring a professional. I wanted to share the tools that I have found to be easy and affordable when it comes to creating great content online.

If you are creating images or even graphics with a small amount of animation I recommend and use Canva. Canva is an easy and free way to make simple edits to your images; such as, text overlay and resizing, so that they look great on whatever platform you are placing them on. Most of the functionality is available in the free version and lots of free stock photos as well. I like that they offer you layout ideas and suggestions, sometimes staring at that blank white square trying to come up with inspiration can be impossible. If you want to add some animation to your images or have access to an even larger library of stock images you will need to purchase the upgraded package but at under $20/month it is an affordable way to enhance your posts.

Video is now the currency of the internet and to keep up online you MUST be creating and posting video content. Creating great video is a little trickier than coming up with just a still image. You can spend a lot of time and money having professional video created for you. There is no replacement for a professional on your larger scale productions but when I just need a quick edit to something I filmed on my phone I use a tool called Wave. Wave has lots of templates and stock video to help you make great video productions without having a whole film crew. I like to start with one of their hundreds of templates and change out the video clips to fit my needs. You don’t need to spend hours creating your videos either. I use Wave both for my own video needs and for my clients. You can try Wave out for free (and get at 10% discount if you decide to join) here. If you know me well you know I am all about finding easy and inexpensive solutions. (Someone recently said that was my Davis County showing 🤣🤣🤣.)

There are lots of tools and resources available now for editing both images and video. Canva and Wave may not be the best options for you. After testing TONS of products over the years I have found them to be the most user-friendly and inexpensive options for me and my team. I hope that this helps get you headed in the right direction of taking your next social media posts to the next level!

Here is a short clip of Wave in action.
